Anyone tried Kenji's 10 hour baked corned beef?

Would like to cook one that is already corned today. I'm cat sitting (with a 20 min drive away) and like the idea of putting the brisket in the oven and coming back 10 hours later - like Gretchen's pulled pork. Hubs is home sick so he can keep a gentle eye on it while I'm gone. Still need to get the rye so tomorrow is soon enough for us to enjoy the final product - corned beef, potatoes, carrots and cabbage smileys/smile.gif Thanks, Colleen

Loved the method! Store brand corned beef was not that tasty

Easy! The texture of the corned beef was more like deli than any I have ever made before. Our cole slaw Reubens overpowered the corned beef but sliced and warmed in a skillet of the juices, served along-side Kenji's recipe for the boiled carrots, potatoes and cabbage, the corned beef was okay. We've got a small piece left that I plan to freeze in the remaining wonderfully flavorful juices to enjoy again at a later date - with more carrots, potatoes and cabbage. The flavorful veggies more than made up for the corned beef!

I picked up the Kroger corned beef on sale and it was right at it's expiration date. Maybe the longer corning and potential handling errors by the store had something to do with the lack of flavor. Next year! Colleen
