Anyone want to split a 5.5K bar of Callebaut Gianduja? I will order the one Marilyn suggested

Barb, asked Qzina about shipping costs. They go up to a certain weight for the same price

so I can typically add another 5 Kg (11 pounds) block of chocolate for the same shipping cost.

The D811 is the 53% semisweet and is Alice Medrich's "basic building block."

Qzina no longer carries the Callebaut 70%. I ordered 75% this time to use for the workshop, but I'll have to make adjustments to the recipe now.

It's $112.13 (11lbs) and the website says they offer free shipping on orders over $100.

FYI, I called a local place (Marque Foods, Inc 38%) and it was $115.70 and via Amazon it's $114.86 - 30%, so the above seems to be a decent price.

Note, when looking around I've seen it in several different cocoa percentages: Qzina 36%, Surfas 20% others above. Some list 5lb milk chocolate slabs (in the $60-70 range w/o shipping added -- Callebaut Gianduja Plaisir Chocolate - 5.5 lb 22% cocoa $69.50 @ ChefsWarehouse.com).

I would love to split but I would eat any and all of the portion of my split. . .

plain, in chunks, as soon as possible.

I need to be afraid of that stuff, very afraid . . . smileys/smile.gif

Thanks Maria! I ordered it, free shipping. Marilyn to get the free shipping

you had to order on line, I called and asked! I would still be happy to split with anyone if you are interested! If not, I will have a LOT of chocolate!!

Barbara, I'd be interested in a portion. Will PM you my email address. Let me know if you get it.

P.S. This is the milk chocolate one, right? Apparently, they also make a dark chocolate gianduja.

When it comes can someone tell me if it's scored to be broken into smaller sizes?

I'm wondering if it comes where you can break it into pre-weighed pieces and/or the same so I might break into smaller bars and add to holiday gift baskets.

It will be scored into 10 pieces. I typically use a 5-prong chocolate pick to break it

Doesn't always break along those lines with the higher percentages, like 70%.

However, the gianduja is probably the softest of all blocks (like milk) and Barb will easily be able to slice it with a knife at any point.

Regrettably, this "ease of sliceability" accounted for four extra inches of waste on the wasteland that is my waist.
