Hi all! Having folks over for cheese fondue this weekend. And I need a few ideas for appetizers and dessert. Going to serve a salad, salami or procuitto and cornichons to go with fondue.

I might make asparagus rollups and maybe veggies with dip for a starter... but other suggestions welcome.

For dessert, I wanted something light on the palate after all the heavy cheese. Maybe an angel food cake... but served with What? Or do you think Chocolate mousse would be too heavy?

Oh and if you have a specific wine suggestion(that won't break the bank), I'd love it. All the whites we brought back from Switzerland have finally turned (a very sad discovery).

TIA,

Melissa

Traditionally, the wine would be Fendant, a Swiss white. I would stay away from milk products

for dessert and base it more on fruits. Like a nut/shortbread based fruit tart , raspberries, pears, apples...with just a touch of whipped cream.

My mind immediately went to pears as well...like poached pears. Had a

terrific one recently...Maple-Vanilla Roasted Pears from Sara Foster's Fresh Every Day cookbook...soooo good. Googled and couldn't find it readily but I can type it for you tonight, Melissa, if you're interested.

I think the Danish Puff up in 14041 would be nice served with some lemon curd or fruit compote

Appetizers? I'm smitten with gougers lately. Stir in a little cayenne or truffle oil. Mmmm.
