Apple roses and onion jam

Made my first apple roses after watching the Great British Bake Off...fun and easy.

Also got around to making the 1802 Blaak onion jam - yum!! I can see this with a baguette, apple slice and Brie smileys/smile.gif

I found the recipe via a Martha magazine article with a recipe for Bacon–Blue Cheese (and Blaak Onion Jam) sandwich. It sounded so good I made the onion jam straight away just so I could have the sandwich...seriously, it was fab.

I so want to try those apple roses. How pretty to top a pie for TG or something.

I thought the roses would be pretty on a caramel cake, or tea plate garnish.

Or on top of cupcakes, or on a salad.

The directions say to do 12 'petals' but the two on the left have 10 and I like them better. The one on the right (with 12) was a tad too many and looked too messy.
