Are you a fan of seasoned salts?

I have discovered that I am not. I have tried Lawrey's, both regular and spicy, then Penzey's both regular and smoked. For Christmas, I was give two huge bottles of seasoned salt from the Pepper Plant People. The person who gave them to me said, "we use it on everything, love it! For me, they seem too salty, bold and I can taste something chemical. Today, as I was cooking my beloved Christmas Lima Beans, I was looking over my stash and decided I want plain, coarse sea salt, red pepper flakes, freshly ground pepper along with the aromatics. Pure, simple and what I love. So how about you...might you have found a seasoned salt that I should try?

I like truffle salt and a pimenton one I bought in Spain

but like you, I find that a little goes a long way.

The truffle salt I use instead of truffle oil as I think it tastes more of truffle.

The pimenton one just has such a nice bite and smokiness that it works well in some dishes.

Oh, I always forget about truffle salt. I like it, as well. Must get it out so it's handy.

Pimenton? Must be salt mixed with smoked paprika? I am discovering the loveliness of smoked paprika. Just recently made a steak rub for New York steaks using it, salt, garlic powder and a bit of evoo. It was awesome.

One time, I ordered a small square tin which had 9 flavored salts in it. I was

not impressed. They say they are infused with something but I could not taste it. I gave our son the same for Christmas, he never commented on it. I have made infused salts at home, but they seem to lose their punch after a while.

That is about what the pimenton is.

It has a bit of a kick, but we love that and I have it in mind when I use it.

I really enjoy my seasoned salts from Hawaii. Pretty to look at, nice texture, and fun memories.

I like the coarse special ones for finishing dishes. I have always disliked Lawry's, but

Morton's Nature's Seasoning I do like and use it especially for roasting chicken.
