Ate again at CPK and made their Planked Halibut with Butternut, Kale and Farro

but without the Halibut (or the plank), subbing lemon pepper cod roasted from frozen on a sheet pan with spiced yogurt cauliflower. The recipe attached is really very close to the restaurant version, maybe same without the subs I made. I did use just a tiny bit too much smoked paprika (Penzy's), probably double the amount of farro, and fat free half and half, topped with cod.

We went to a different California Pizza Kitchen and the kale, butternut farro wasn't as plentiful as the first visit. Still amazing! So we asked for an extra side of the butternut, kale, farro - great decision. Huge piece of halibut - so very yummy. Colleen

I left 1.5 pounds of Whole Foods halibut out overnight in the bag with ice. Thought

the plastic bag just had the ice in it...didn't check for the fish.

Broke my heart. That was a LOT of money to toss, but that's what I get for walking around and randomly buying stuff.

Broke my heart, too! smileys/frown.gif

Having success with on-sale grocery store frozen fish roasted from frozen with veggies on a sheet pan. Planning to make Nicoise salad for lunch today with leftover Aldi ahi from Wednesday's dinner. Used to buy fresh fish but now look forward to eating it while dining out. Colleen

Oh, I just bought cod from Bi-Lo and it is HORRIBLE. Looks gorgeous (nice, thick fillet) but

there is so much preservative smell that I tossed half of it already. I couldn't taste it once it was baked, but still...the idea just seems counterintuitive to eating fresh fish. I've got one more fillet soaking in milk hoping that will dispel the smell.

I really hate when I try to do something healthy and this kind of interference pops up.

That explains why I’ve brought home fresh cod and when it was unwrapped it smelled weird. Also

I didn’t detect any off taste after it was cooked but I bet it was preservative I smelled. Smell dissipated after I rinsed and dried it. Did the piece you soaked in milk taste any different to you?
