Back in FL after a wonderful meet-up with charlie and DW.

Charlie has one of the kindest smiles I've seen and I just kept staring at DW's beautiful skin (sorry, Patty...I hope I wasn't being too rude!)

This sweet couple invited me to their gorgeous home for an Italian lunch and somehow we segued from toasting good friends with Prosecco to discussing balsamic vinegars to mentioning saba which lead to sampling saba which led to Googling the definition of "grape must" which led to watching a YouTube of Lucille Ball doing her grape stomping wrestling fight!

Ya. It was THAT kind of funny, happy conversation.

Lunch was a fabulous assortment of antipasto treats, great bread from City Bakery and Caprese salad with tomatoes that actually tasted like REAL tomatoes. Later we had fresh peaches with Graeter's vanilla ice cream. Charlie felt I had missed the peak peaches, but then he hasn't tasted the rocks I'm used to getting down here.

And bless him forever, CIA-trained charlie admitted that he once made an Italian cake for his sister's birthday and when he went to get it later, the whipped cream icing had slid down the sides.

There is hope for me yet!

Thank you again, my friends, for opening your home and arms to me. It was a lovely day!

marilyn is a gift from heaven--and we even got a couple of jars of her

dyslexic chocolate sauce and a wonderful apple strudel.

Thank you M for the visit. You are a joy.

How cool is that! I love the meet ups. So fun, after all these years we can pick up

live as we have known through gails / eat.at. Just love that.

So happy you all had such a fun day.

Sound like a good time was had by all! I'm also glad you got to charlie's house & back home w/ no

detours or problems, M! I personally consider that a minor miracle. Smile.
