Bacon - Booze Experiment update

Hi everyone!

Here is an update on my bacon bourbon and vodka experiment. Finally I took a photo of the finished product and sampled a little too - ooo!

So the bacon vodka, pictured in the small greenish jug. It turned a pretty whiskey color and has a great light bacon flavor. This will be a great bloody Mary ingredient, or perhaps I'll make the BLTini...

Now the bourbon, pictured in the beaker. Ahhh, the bourbon! The sweet sugary flavor of the bourbon is so wonderful with the smokey bacon flavor. I'm in loooove. I had some chilled and up and wow, I will be making this on a regular basis. Can't wait to have it with a steak soon, maybe Sunday! One of my steak secrets is while the steak is resting, I add a dab of butter and a spoonful of bourbon on top, imagine that with this bourbon - shiver shiver....

Thanks to Missy and Traca for their help and suggestions.

Glad you liked it.

I still have to make some of the vodka - I'm dying for that BLTini. Need one fo this sore throat and 'cold' I have

Black forest bacon from Whole Foods, Makers Mark and Skky vodka. Made a Manhattan at the stroke of 5

And it was awesome. Especially with my homemade cherries in cognac with vanilla bean and sugar! The bourbon needs to be chilled and strained one more time as there was a hint of fat despite being strained twice. The vodka however is perfect. BLTinis prep today!

Oh my...Heather...this sounds AMAZING! Try making bacon candy with the

Black Forest bacon. Yowza. Love that stuff!
