I love these Sugar Softies. Big soft drop sugar cookies that are easy to decorate and easy for kids to decorate as well if you want to have a "decorate and take" table.
SUGAR SOFTIES
Stir together: 4 cups flour, ½ tsp cream of tartar, ½ tsp baking soda and ¼ tsp salt.
In a mixing bowl, beat together: 2 cups sugar, 1 ¼ cups butter until fluffy.
Then add 2 eggs and 2 tsp vanilla and beat well.
Then add 2 T of milk and mix well.
Blend both mixtures together.
Drop by ¼ cup onto an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart.
Flatten slightly with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar.(I use colored sugar or sprinkles)
Bake at 375 for 12-15 minutes. Cool on rack. Yield is about 20 large cookies.
Note: I always double recipe.
Good to ice and decorate too. Kids love this and good bake sale item.
