Bandit update.

I linked the beginning story of Bandit.

On the 4th of July, the police came and told us that neighbors had been complaining about our dog Bandit, roaming the neighborhood. He would dart out the door and escape for 24 hours sometimes. I would get a call from the school, fire department, police department, telling me that there had been a Bandit siting. It was really starting to become a problem and our neighbors were losing patience with us. The police officer also said that one of the neighbors said he attacked and killed one of the neighbor's cats while they were on vacation.

Needless to say, I was devastated by this news. I had to do something and I was at a loss of what to do. The shelter would put him down because he is so high energy that he is a pain to crate. My step-daughter runs the shelter here and was able to get Bandit into the Pups for Parole program. He has adapted well and has bonded with his handler. The handler had bonded with Bandit to the point where he is going to adopt him (he will be leaving the prison shortly). I got an update from my stepdaughter on Monday. She saw him playing and running down the halls with the other dogs in the program. He gets walked/runned twice a day. He waits in the cell for his handler to return. It is such a happy ending to a 2-year-long adventure with my dog. It appears that I was meant to foster that crazy dog for two years, and then pass him on to a home that will be able to meet his needs. There is already one dog in his household so he will have a friend to play with.
