Bastrop Fire Update

For those of you who are not getting news coverage on this, the fire has now burned 35,000 acres and roughly 1400 homes. It is only 40% contained. Conditions are dry and windy and there is no rain in sight in extended forecasts.

There are wildfires all over Texas. We normally get

about 34 inches of rain a year here in Dallas and we are fifteen inches down for the year.

I can imagine. Unfortunately it is usually lushly almost

sub-tropical here and it has all turned into tinder. There was an article in the paper this morning about how many old growth big trees we are likely to lose if the drought continues.
