Bavarian Apple Tort from T&T...

I'm working on ideas for Thanksgiving desserts to bring to my cousins (thinking of mini pumpkin pies)and would like another idea...this tort looks interesting. I understand that it must be good since it's in T&T but has anyone made it in the recent and has reviews/opinions to share. thanks!

 
The apple torte is excellent; I've made it many times. It can be made ahead of time but

leave off the almonds until just before serving otherwise they get soft and lose their crunch. Just brown the almonds ahead of time.
