Bento boxes - I just discovered them!

I'm obsessing over Bento boxes and my husband thinks I've lost my mind. I just ordered one and can't wait to get it and fill it up. I'm planning all kinds of healthy stuff. (Saw a blog saying 30 lbs. were lost using a bento box - ha,ha.)

Now I can't wait to go to Michaels and see what I can find there to use for my bento box. I've also logged on to every bento box web site I could find.

This must be a second childhood.

Helloooo Ellie...

welcome to my obsession...lol. Here are a couple sites for you:

http://lunchinabox.net/

go to ebay and search for egg molds, and you will see these little plastic hinged molds for molding hard boiled eggs. they work great and the kids love them.

When I went to Michael's I found these little plastic vials, think like the film cases that camera film used to come in, only this one is opaque, I use these to put ranch dressing and caramel apple dip in my son's lunch. I think I found them in the oil/acrylic paint supply area.

At Target, I bought my son a, I think they are called snap-lok or something like that, and it has four little divider/compartments that fit into it. I have another plain one for his sandwich. I don't do anything to fancy for his lunches because my husband told me I was going to get him beat up. If you are at all compulsive obsessive, you will love making your bento box.

I also found some Little Kitty bento type boxes at the Dollar General/or Tree, I can never remember which one is which. They are cute for little kids or big ones.

If I come across any other sites I will PM them to you. Have fun, and let me know if you find any cool accessories too.

I love Bento Boxes! Mine are never "picture perfect", but I do have seperate

areas for "healthy snacks"; (usually cut up peppers or carrots). I love Dawns link, gave some fun examples using cupcake papers to seperate. I try once/month to make vegie rolls.....Very fun!
Enjoy your Bento, and keep us posted on how you are filling it!!
Regards,
Barb

the veganlunchbox site has lots of good ideas for your boxes. she doesn't post much anymore since

writing her book and starting homeschooling, but her archives are full of fun ideas---easily adapted to non-vegan. also, she has resources for those cute bento box accessories like the little fish/flower shaped squeeze bottles for soy or dressing etc.
