Based on the current information, the FDA advises that consumers not eat bagged fresh spinach at this time. Preliminary epidemiological evidence suggests that bagged fresh spinach may be a possible cause of this outbreak.

The FDA issued a warning today

Classic Salad's Baby Spinach/Spring Mix was distributed nationwide, as well as Canada and Japan, to foodservice, institutions and distributors.

That's a common brand!!! I had a bag of it around last week.

Here's a link to the FDA warning

and it's NOT brand specific.

The reference to "Classic Salads" seems to come from a July 31 voluntary recall (for Salmonella) for one lot of that brand.

The latest warning looks to be much more general.

I threw mine out. I won't even take a chance with boiling it.

They are saying now that you should even throw out frozen spinach if it's dated from Aug on.

We didn't have that here that I know of.Today they are saying just bagged spinach

should be tossed--not even loose needs to be. Of course, they have identified the source company which makes a difference.
