Bon Appetit's new look?

Today I received my Feb. issue of this magazine. Last month I noticed a new look to the cover. While I am no graphic artist, I have to say I dislike the new look. To me, it looks like a rookie is trying his/her wings, which is fine....everyone needs to gain experience. I dislike to boldness and harsh colors of the last two magazines. What does everyone else think?

I agree Karen, it's a very "amature" looking design. I have one more issue left and I'm grateful!

I have a free sub choice to BA, Gourmet or Domino, I guess BA is off the list.

I'm not that hot on Gourmet, either, since Reichl took over several years ago.

I see what you mean, but I usually get a few good recipes from it. I'm noticing fewer recipes in

recent issues. I think all magazines are struggling and making changes trying to lure a new, younger demographic. However, I don't think the people they would like to attract are very magazine-oriented. I'm very much a hard copy person, myself. I love to sit and clip recipes from magazines. You'd laugh it you saw the collection I have, and then there are the ones I've copied and printed from the internet. Like many here, I have an overwhelming collection. Definitely an obsession, but there are surely worse ones. And I do use some of them, am always fixing something new. So for now, I'll hang in there with BA, but I do dislike the changes in the Epicurious web site. Definitely not as user friendly, but part of that reason is the changes that Norton has made in allowing advertising to show that wasn't there before. That's ruined several sites for me. With the previous version of Norton's, there were no ads.

What about the new fonts they are using!!! I got my February issue

Saturday, and they must be going for the under 40 crowd, because my "mature" eyes could hardly read a thing. I ended up with a headache after only a few pages and put the magazine aside.

The photo of the pancakes on the cover is horrible! I wouldn't even take a

picture if my pancakes turned out looking like that! And you're right Judy, we just pulled out a couple from several months back and there is a real difference in the font size. And hubby just bought me a 3 year subscription last year. Ugh!

Awful! And did you see how dry, overdone and unappealing the picture of the

short ribs looked?

I still have another year to go on my subscription, but if they don't change, I sure won't be re-uping! Do you think they will get a barrage of complaints?

It makes me sad, because Bon Appetit used to be my favorite food magazine.

I know I'm writing them! I used to think I was only 1 voice but learned that

you never know how many are doing the same. Right?
