come up with easy foods to have in. Breakfast, lunch and dinner so we don't blow alot of money on food. He's a meat and potato kind of guy.

He gets in friday nite. so 3 breakfasts, prob only 1 lunch at home as the others will be out seeing the city and 2 dinners.

I'm thinking:

bagels for breakfast I know he likes those

Sun. morning french toast unless we're(I'm) too hung over, planning a long nite out Sat. nite.

What I need is something I can make tommorow afternoon that will be very stick to your ribs. I guess a vat of chilli might do it.

I don't have house guests often (we have a one bedroom with a roomy couch).

What do people do for house guests? I have no idea?

Help. It is my bro. and he'd be happy with a mat on the floor and six pack of Sam Adams smileys/smile.gif but I'd like to make him feel like he's stepped into the lap of luxury.

Thanks All,

Muse

i think chili would do it nicely. or lasagna (or a heap of pasta and red sauce).

REC: CROCKPOT SWEET 'N' SNAPPY BEEF STEW

CROCKPOT SWEET 'N' SNAPPY BEEF STEW

Ginger, molasses, and raisins provide
pleasant sweetness to this savory stew.
Serve the stew with a salad of mixed greens,
grapes, and toasted walnuts.

(I serve it over wide oriental rice noodles,
but wide egg noodles or white rice would
probably work just as well.)

2 pounds lean beef stew meat, cut into
1-inch cubes
4 carrots, sliced thin
2 medium parsnips, sliced thin
1 medium onion, sliced
1 stalk celery, sliced thin
1/4 cup quick-cooking tapioca
1 Tablespoon grated fresh ginger
OR 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 (14 1/2 ounce can) diced tomatoes
1/4 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup raisins

In a 3 1/2 to 6-quart slow cooker, place
meat, carrots, parsnips, onion, and celery.
Sprinkle tapioca, ginger, salt, and pepper
over mixture. Add undrained tomatoes,
vinegar, and molasses.

Cover; cook on Low heat setting for 8 to 9
hours or on High heat setting for 4 to 4 1/2
hours until vegetables are soft. Stir in
raisins; cover and continue cooking for 30
minutes more. 8 servings.

Sunday Morning breakfast always go down well with icy champagne and orange juice (Mimosas)...

very luxurious. Enjoy having your brother to stay.

Wow Tapioca(which I LOVE in a stew recipe?) ........

I've never heard of tapioca outside of tapioca pudding. very cool.
I wish I had a crockpot. This sounds amazing.

I like the beef stew idea. I can just throw it in a pot with vegetables and let it simmer.
