What for dinner tonight where YOU are?

Just rotisserie chicken leftover from Sunday (despite the recent thread on what may be in them!), with some jasmine rice and mango-chipotle salad dressing, warmed up, with minty peas and apple pie dessert )

15 degrees here with a black sky and mucho snow (2 feet+) 20 or so miles to the north. Only a couple of inches here. But brrrrrrr... I'm minding the cold more and more these days.

Even though we live in CA our temps in No CA have been down into the high

20's in the mornings for almost a month. Everything in the house is cold. We have two heat/AC units plus a gas fireplace. This year the area down near the floors is staying cooler than usual and my feet are always cold. This morning I turned our usual 70 degrees up to 74 and it helped. I can see my winter bill going sky high this year.

19 here near DC at 8pm. Only got into the low 20s today. Very chilly for us.....

but it is our first good cold spell. I am hoping this will help eliminate some mosquitoes, ticks and stink bugs. It never got cold enough last winter to take care of these pests.

It is soo cold! Dh is traveling to Atlanta this week, then heading to camp this upcoming weekend

he is not a camper; just a really good guy. : )

I am responsible for packing up Bonnie's buffalo chicken dip, Dawns Pizza Dip, lots of cocoa mix, chili for a crowd (Michael /phoenix gave huge accolades on gails) and all the fixins

It is supposed to snow. Alot. dh is not at all an outdoors man. and it will be cold....

I am waiting to see his response this evening when he arrives in Atlanta that I want to purchase an electric blanket for him to use in his sleeping bag.... : )

(I am being serious... dh can't afford to get the flu, worth the $$ for a blanket in his sleeping bag..... I am already preparing myself for being the brunt of lots of jokes!)

Did I mention how cold it is!!! And I am in the house! I can't imagine him at a camp site! But he will have plenty of good food to eat....

Yeah, I'm scared what the heat bill will look like. December doubled and Jan's been so much worse.

I spent almost 2 weeks having to cover the lemon tree every night (I started to think about smudge pots!) - forgot about the climbing rose bush out back, it looks ruined. Really unusually cold for us here in N CA. Now the folks to the East have it.

And we were just saying the other day that we just have not had

any winter. We can usually count on Jan. to give us a chance to turn of the AC and open windows. Not complaining though, I'll take this.

I know! I'm dying here. Did you know that this morning it was all the way down in the high 40's!

You think you are cold? It's 18 here right now. I do no longer

scream when I exit the car and the cold air hits me. Maybe I am becoming a country girl after all. NOT!!! It is freaking freezing here and I don't like it one bit. At least our heating bill is not over $400 here in the winter and we have a nice wood fireplace. All in all, rather cozy as long as you don't have to go outside. smileys/smile.gif

he nixed the electric blanket idea...Said he would be the brunt of too many jokes... Off to

purchase handwarmers / toe warmers. It is 11 degrees this am. VERY cold.

Oh, that's AWFUL! ;o) Talk to me when the inside of my storm door thaws. LOL

The screws holding our handle on looked white this a.m., so DH brushed them off. It was frost! INSIDE!

News is saying don't go out if it's not necessary. The wind is blowing down the river valley and

wind chill is -20 to -40!

And guess what, we're having RAIN tonight. Do you know what that is? Water comes out of the sky!

It's so inconvenient. We miss our golf dates and can't dine al fresco for hours at a time.
