Bunn Coffee Maker

For years I've been hearing that Bunn is incomparable for making coffee so I'm looking to purchase one. Anyone have experience / recommendation here for a specific model I should consider?

I wouldn't say price is no object but I'm willing to invest in better coffee. I'm already spending a fortune on Peet's beans so may as well go all the way with top of the line coffee maker.

not sure if it's Bunn, but my friends have a Grind and Brew that they swear by. It holds the beans

and grinds them fresh for each pot. The only drawback is that it is noisy when grinding and if you don't make coffee everyday or so, the beans you pour into it can get a bit stale. So now, I must find out which brand and I'll update this post.

We probably have it here on FK. Didn't think to look. Do you have one? DH bought me a regular

Cuisinart brewer for Christmas cuz I mentioned once about the noise factor of the Grind and Brew. I used it for the first time on NY's day and was pleased with it. I had a really old Mr Coffee type that was on its 3rd replacement pot already. The coffeemakers with the metal or insulated caraffes intrigue me, but DH bought the glass caraffe model.

I've had a Grind & Brew for several years.... good and bad...

The good part is that it is wonderful to put the beans and water in, set the timer, and have it ready when you get up. The thermal pot keeps it hot a long time, too.

The bads... it makes a heck of a lot of noise grinding (I generally do the grind part at night then set the timer with the "grind off" feature). Another minus is that you have to stand on your tiptoes to see into the top as you pour water in as the water reservoir is not clear and the measure lines are on the inside. Lastly, once you grind and brew, you have to wash all the parts (4 of them) before you can set it up to grind & brew again. The moisture from the boiling water seeps into all the areas where you've ground coffee, so you have a lot of coffee powder caked in there.

I have the brewer, no grinder and agree about the poor design of water reservoir. I have an old

plastic container that came with a previous coffeee maker that's marked off in 5 oz cups and use it without trying to read the marks inside the Cuisinart. Also the thermal container has an opening too small for my hand to get in and scrub it well, but a dishwashing brush bought just for it solved that problem. Thanks for input on cleaning the grinding feature, I wondered about that.
