Buttermilk? Where did it go to? I've checked in three stores and its *spot*

Maybe everyone in the South made buttermilk biscuits for Thanksgiving? I don't think the prices

of butter and buttermilk are related so much, since most of the buttermilk is cultured, not churned. I've had good luck subbing plain lowfat yogurt in recipes.

 
My local Kroger only stocks about a dozen bottles of buttermilk on a good day. Around the holidays

...it goes fast. I think people use it in biscuits, pancakes, mashed potatoes and other holiday recipes, so it tends to sell out.

I had to go to Safeway to find some the day before Thanksgiving.

I have no luck with the dry stuff...it turns into a rock for me. And the soured milk doesn't give me

the same results in whole grain pancakes...although it does work in the Cafe Beaujolais coffee cake.
