Calling all Angelenos!! Jonathan Gold's "99 Essential L.A. Restaurant" Guide...

We always get left out of restaurant reviews, etc. They finally did a piece in the LA Times

about a Tea House in Palos Verdes.

There's lots of great places down here, I guess we are a well-kept secret!

mmm... I've had the veggie dumplings with ponzu sauce (YUM), the Spaghetti alla Trevi and

Penne alla Arrabbiata (double YUMS), and the Brown Rice and Chicken Gumbo (this one doesn't sound like much, but WOW! -- try this one first if you go!).

The absolute not-to-be-missed highlight is the warm apple cobbler on days he deigns to make it -- it is melt-in-your-mouth sheer pleasure with one of the giant cups of coffee. This Austrian knows how to wield a pan!

He has had The Blue Butterfly (coffee/pastry) shop down the street for a couple years now and then opened Deluca Trattoria, which I have yet to try (mixed reviews there). He has always been in the kitchen at Hannes when I've been there, so perhaps the kitchen staff at Deluca's isn't supervised as well.

He has JUST opened yet a 4th place called "3 Good Things" but I know nothing about that.

If you get to that area much, also try The Farm Stand across the street. Sort of a nouveau-organic-eclectic menu.
