A couple of weeks ago I looked for Spanish chorizo and found D’Artagnan’s chorizo at two supermarkets that I infrequently go to. I bought it and had some for breakfast to taste but realized that is was already fully cooked and wasn't that great. Hmmm I thought, I did see fresh chorizo and andouille sausages made by Martin’s Specialty Sausage Company right next to D’Artagnan’s at Genuardi’s and said to myself, I must try that. I went out on Tuesday and had myself a delicious sausage sandwich on a Kaiser roll for dinner. Mmmmmmmm! I chose the fresh chorizo to make this dish. I also found Pomi tomatoes there on sale. I tasted them and they’re really good – the best ever.

I made the entire recipe using 26-30 ct. shrimp that I had on hand and used 7 oz. of the fresh chorizo.

Janet in NC recommended her favorite source of chorizo and other specialty sausages to Curious and I. See image link for sausage link. I have plenty of sausage leftover and I’d like to try ordering from Amaral’s one day but only if I start to look like a Twiggy or Nicole Richie…

Janet’s post to #4873:

“I lived on the southern coast of Massachusetts for a long time and we used Portugese Chourico in place of chorizo. It's about the same thing. There is a large market in New Bedford that has a website that you can order from. Also has good recipes, especially soups. www.amaral.com. and no, I have no connection to them at all, I just buy their fine products. I find WF chorizo to be tasteless, at least the one they make. If you order from Amarals try some linguica too. We used to have this in the school cafeteria cooked in the same pot with the baked beans. Yum.”

Glad you liked it, was your chorizo nice and spicy? I checked the brand last time I was at Whole

Foods and the brand of Spanish chorizo that I bought there is Wellshire Farms.
