Can any cookie dough be kept in the freezer to slice and bake?

We've enjoyed the Oatmeal Crispies from Richard in Cinnci and I want to make a few different types to keep in the freezer to slice and bake off when we want. Can I just use any recipe like Peanut Butter or Chocolate Chip or Molasses Spiced Cookies?

My sister makes cookie dough balls and freezes those individually, then bags up.

She does gingersnaps, and snickerdoodles.

Drop cookies work better if you drop them on a sheet, freeze till firm, then put in a freezer bag.

I just freeze drop cookie or dough that is supposed to be rolled into balls patted out flat in a freezer bag. It thaws pretty quickly. I lay the bag flat on the counter then use shears to cut the top half of the bag off, then scoop it with a cookie scoop off the plastic onto the cookie sheet.

That's exactly what I wanted to know. If you bake them while they

are still frozen they would be more chewy right? If I did peanut butter cookies for instance I could flatten the balls, make the tine marks and then freeze. Pop into a freezer bag and then bake as I wanted. Right?

Sure you can. I don't think she bakes them frozen but when she puts them on the baking >>

sheet they pretty much defrost by the time the oven gets up to temp.

I do that ALL the time - I have pb cookies and snickerdoodles in there right now.

Just shape like you normally would and freeze. Add a couple minutes to baking time and bake them frozen.

Orchid, here's an easy way to freeze a roll of cookie dough

When you click on the photo link and select to view as Slideshow, speed up the show by clicking on FAST in the lower bottom right corner. The default speed is so slow it's like watching paint dry.

(When I saw the embedded photo, I was a bit shocked at how hairy my arms were! Then I remembered I had conscripted Larry to hold the bench scraper so I could take the photo. Wheww.)

Ah, I never thought about using parchment. Good idea and aren't

bench scrapers good for so many things? Thanks for the idea.

Although I haven't tried it yet I've heard you can store the roll in a paper towel tube that has >>

been slit vertically so the parchment roll doesn't get crushed/distorted.

I'm glad I'm not the the only one - I ALWAYS put the oven temp and baking time too smileys/smile.gif
