looked in various cookbooks and googled with no luck. Is it something I can buy and cut my own or is it something like tri-tip that is sold regionally?

I've seen recipes calling for sirloin tips and would like to clear up this mystery.

More questions...so sirloin tips are cut from a sirloin tip roast? I'm talking about the

little cubed pieces. Interesting, looks as though sirloin tip roast is actually cut from the round? Would I be better off buying sirloin steak and cutting it into the tips? Thanks for the excellent pictures...great info.

as far as i know, the sirloin tip is a cut of beef generally cut as a roast...

the little cubed pieces are simply that a sirloin tip was cut into little cubed pieces.

sirloin tip roasts are common around here (dc).

ask your butcher.

I knew I used to see them there, think it's more an east coast of FL thing. I bought a top sirloin

to make my own.
