Can anyone update me on Mexican vanilla. I remember decades ago we were on the lookout for

nasty additives but here I am with friends on their way asking me if I want vanilla. My favourite flavour but (oh look at all those Canadian spelliings!) do we still need to be cautious?

I'm off to a Mexico cruise in a few days JUST to stock up on vanilla

Ok, not just for vanilla, but that is all I plan on filling my suitcase with smileys/smile.gif

I told my friend not to get me vanilla. Now that he is on his way, I want some. A moment in the

kitchen changes perspectives. I looked at what a friend brought me recently from Mexico and there is no mention of the dreaded coumarin and all internet references are old. Bottles from years ago, as I recall, stated that they were free of it and I am still alive.

So this guy is not kitchen-savvy, but I do want to head him in the right direction. Since you know what you are doing there...is it a concern of the past?

Not all Mexican vanilla has coumarin, Marg. It's worth

doing a little Googling on the topic. Hope you can still get in touch with him to see if he will still bring you some.

p.s. It's good to see you back, Marg. You were missed!!!!

((((((Marg))))))

I am so glad to see you posting again! I will never forget my assignment to have the Millefeuille at the Café de la Paix in Paris in the Place de l'Opera, Who knew caramel could be so mysterious wrapped in layers of whipped cream???

I was so relieved that you loved that little slice of heaven as well. I used to go to Paris 3 times

a year; now I sit on an island going nowhere. But this is what memories are for. They have fewer calories, too.
