Can Belgian waffles be made in a regular waffle iron? Will they be very different?

Does anyone own two types of waffle iron? I think my husband will have a heart attack if I buy two different irons...

i think they'd essentially taste the same but the square/hole thingies wouldn't be as deep/thick.

The texture will be different - not puffy like Belgian waffles.

Thanks, Lisa. My daughter likes American-style waffles, so I got a regular iron.

If I make waffles enough, I may break down & eventually buy the Waring Pro that everyone's been raving about... Unfortunately I can't justify the expense or the calories right now.

Thought I would try Michael's recipe for Dad's Buttermilk Waffles in our regular iron for Father's Day, but would love to know what your favorite is for the Waring Pro, since I will be getting one.

I use Michael's recipe in the Waring - it makes pretty much any recipe into a winner -

even the one time I didn't have enough flour and made a regular batter with Bisquick (!).
