Can I freeze an angel food cake? What do I wrap it up in?

Flo Braker says wrap in plastic, then in foil, and freeze for no more than

1 week. But Nick Malgieri says "wrap well" and freeze for up to a month.

I used to cut the cake into slices then wrap individually for lunches and such. So easy to pull a

a slice from the freezer for quick use as a dessert to top with fresh strawberries and whipped cream because it defrosts very quickly. I just wrapped each slice in plastic wrap then put a few of those individually wrapped slices into a ziploc bag and popped into the freezer.

Thanks much. Ok, plastic, then foil. I will give this a try.

I'm at my parents' house, trying to convince my mother to let me cook some dishes that I can freeze so they can thaw and eat them later. (Her cancer is making her nauseous and uninterested in food--particularly meat--but she still needs to eat and so does my dad!) She seems oddly resistant to this, but did ask if I could bake and freeze an angel food cake, so I'll start with that.

I should probably stop asking for permission and just do it, but old habits die hard. It's like I'm ten again!

Anyway, thanks for the advice.

I've been wondering how she was doing. smileys/frown.gif Hang in there. Just do stuff

they (DPs)never want to "put you to any trouble" but it helps them and it helps you too, knowing that they are taken care of.

Thanks for thinking of us!

She's doing okay, actually. It's my dad who's nervous and anxious. (The doc told him to stop researching everything on the Internet.)

Tomorrow I will make the beef casserole that Olga posted recently. I think it will freeze well, and my dad mentioned that they're kind of sick of soup, so this will be something different.

Thanks again...
