Can I make a "gingerbread" house with sturdy sugar cookie dough?

Son and friend want to make the Easter Cottage on the cover of the Mackenzie Spring Catalogue (unfortunately they don't have it available online or I'd post a picture)

I'm thinking if we make it in small enough proportions, we'd be able to use a sturdy sugar cookie like Penny's Cookies instead of gingerbread. Maybe the largest piece would be a 6 x 8" roof slope?

Any opinions?

I'll bet ti would work with 3/8" thick dough...baked till crisp (not soft). Use candy melts to glue

together....so much quicker than royal icing and you can use any color.

Remember to cut out the doors/windows ahead of time, but LEAVE the dough in until it's baked. Then cut it out. That way the holes will retain their shape. You just have to cut them out fairly quickly after they come out of the oven.

Also, if the roof is going to be covered with icing, you can make it in two pieces of 6 x 4 side by side. That would give you harder edges and no large soft middle section.
