Can I make/bake/freeze this for later? Cheesy Casserole

oooh. I suspect that the croissants would not have quite the same character with all the other ingredients soaked into them? You try, let me know. Interesting way of adding the egg. It reminds me of something...........................?

I cannot read the recipe (I looked it up elsewhere) but I think definitely you can. It is like the ones using bread which I have frozen for Christmas breakfast. It is like overnight French toast and definitely needs time for the croissants to soak up the egg.

Found some glasses and yes again. It will work fine. I actually put mine in the oven frozen the night before and set the timer to start so it would be ready when we got up or at least cooking.

Actually, that is an idea. If you are going to freeze it, you may as well just use bread. And it was that recipe for the overnight breakfast that I was thinking of (of which I was thinking).

Does this recipe provide the calorie count?

The croissants are delicious. It will freeze just fine.

Here is another reassurance that the croissant recipe CAN be frozen

You can freeze the breakfast croissant casserole before or after baking, but for best results, freeze before baking.

TO FREEZE BEFORE BAKING:

  • Completely assemble your breakfast bake in a freezer safe 9×13 dish but don’t bake.
  • Tightly wrap casserole in plastic wrap a couple times followed by foil.
  • Freeze for up to 2 months.

I think croissant or challah is the way to go - I think, even frozen, it will be richer.

Thanks all. Since I had to use up the ingredients, I made it up into an 8" square casserole and three individual oval ramekins. I'm going to freeze the casserole and test out the ramekins. I'll leave one in the refrigerator and bake that fresh, then test the other two ramekins for 2 weeks frozen and one month frozen. I did use 6 croissants, but also added a few slices of stale La Brea 3 cheese loaf.
