Capri Sun mold. Has anyone been following these discussions? UGH!!

I guess it's an ongoing problem to find mold - sometimes LARGE amounts - in Capri Sun pouches. Lots of videos showing people cutting open the pouches and pouring out mold. They redesigned the pouch with a clear bottom to, apparently, not fix the problem but so you could see mold. The company's FAQ page goes on to say that yeah, this is normal in a natural juice product, but no "long term effects" have yet been shown. Gross.

Seems their instructions down at the bottom of the page hits the nail on the head: . . .

" We recommend that parents gently squeeze each pouch to check for leaks before serving Capri Sun to their kids. Any leaky or punctured pouches should be discarded."

--and please note: " . . . it is possible for food mold to grow inside containers of preservative-free juice drinks that are ***exposed to air*** . . ." The pouches have to have a leak to grow mold, and the leak can be very small--essentially the seal on the pouch is broken --there is a hole in it somewhere. Mold very well can be expected when juice is exposed to air.

The mold (fungus) grows in the product in pouches, but the product must be exposed to air. It should not grow in pouches that were NOT leaking unless their preservation processing was not up to snuff. (I don't know whether they use heat or pressure or a combination of both to preserve the packages). Capri Sun is saying that the mold is occurring in opened/leaky/can't-see-the-hole packages and when you squeeze them, they will lose pressure due to the leak.

I always wondered about the pouches. How can something so thin be just as good as a can? Sometimes something so thin is as good as a can and sometimes it is NOT as good. More flexible to me means more chance to lose the seal.

I guess Capri Sun is lucky no one has gotten sick yet. . .

The idea is: do not feed this product to anyone.. How about glass bottles with apple, red grape,

white grape, pomegranate, and other juices.
