Cathy Z, I just made the cracker cookies and had a little trouble with the

barb

Well-known member
butter, brown sugar and nuts. I boiled it for 5 minutes exactly, (I stood and stirred it the whole time). I let it sit for 5 min. then when I went to pour it over the crackers, it was like carmel gobs. Do you know what I could have done wrong? (I used 3/4 cup butter, 3/4 cup brown sugar and a cup of nuts. (boiled it for 5 min.)

Thanks for your help.

Barb, I don't think you did anything wrong

Because there are nuts in it, mine also was sort of "gobby" when I poured over the crackers all three times I made it (three seperate times). That is kind of the charm of these little cookies. You followed the directions- and if you did not turn the heat up to high when cooking the stuff together, you ended up with the same mixture I did. I cooked over medium heat but didn't stir until the end. Can you possibly snap a photo of the finished product so I can see them?

I made a second batch and cooked it just 3 minutes and it was easier to handle, however, the first

batch tasted good, too! I put a little chocolate over the top and swirled it around after it melted. Fixed a few plates for my neighbors, I know they will love these; they're delicious! Thanks so much for your help and Christmas blessings to you! I appreciate you and all you do here.
