Cathy Z's - Zucchini Gratin....has anyone made it ahead .... early in the day it is to be cooked?

Charlies broccoli / cauliflower casserole
Richards Corn Pudding Casserole
Someone posted, sorry, forget who... a wonderful spinach casserole.

You shouldn't have a problem making the gratin ahead of time, Gay.

I've done it a couple hours ahead and held it in the refrigerator before baking. Not sure I'd do it a whole day ahead but making in the morning then holding should work fine.

 
Pat and Karen are right Gay.

Zucchini can get watery if it sits too long in a dish like this so if you are just making a few hours ahead it will be fine. If making very early morning and cooking late in the evening you might want to shred the zucchini instead of slicing it- then salt a bit and let sit on paper towels (like you would eggplant) then squeeze some of the juice out before making your gratin.
