I simultaneously love and hate butternut squash because it tastes great, but the darn thing is so slippery that it always felt as if fingers would eventually be sacrificed to the Big Butternut God while peeling it.

Then Cathy said to just cut rings across the whole squash and trim the soft interior meat away from each peel ring. Huzzah! That worked out perfectly. And I still have all ten fingers, which is why this post has been typed correctly and not like this:

For heaven's sake, why did I not think about this after all these years of peeling those darn things

and wondering how many fingertips I was going to lose. Thank You!
