CA coast still under tsunami/evac orders, lots of damage to local harbor...
Right now the local TV is showing that the water at the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor, the boats are mostly sitting in mud/few feet of water with a riptide that is tearing the boats from their berths as the water is pulling out. Several have sunk/capsized/damaged. Lots of traffic due to evacuation from the coastline. Coastal wave surges are pulling out 200-300 more feet than normal. Huge riptides. Boardwalk etc are all closed.
Watching waves hitting at this very moment in yacht harbor as I write this, swamping boats...so scary to see how fast it comes in, and watch the current with white caps going backwards up through the harbor. Reporters had to scramble away (idiots). This was my sanctuary growing up hanging out/living weekends on our boat so it's like seeing my home away from home wrecked. However we are lucky this is all happening at low tide. At first I heard 2M in damage, now someone said 10M (not including the boats). Just reported, 20-30 boats have been sunk.
They are reporting the yacht harbor in Crescent City (above SF/near OR border) is destroyed and at least 1 death.
