Check out the birthday cake I made for my daughter,,,

I just finished it up this morning and I had to share. My DD (like most teenage girls) loves purses, so when I saw this, I knew I wanted to try it. I got the idea and instructions from a Wilton cake decorating forum. I'll post the links later if anyone wants them. I had planned on the zipper being metallic, but the only metallic cake decorating stuff locally didn't work out, so I left it plain. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it came out. This is my first attempt at making a non-traditional type cake. Thanks for letting me share!https://recipeswap.org/fun/wp-content/uploads/Finer_Kitchens/Bday_Cake_1-1.jpg

WOW! Your daughter is going to be the envy of all her friends!

There was a post on egullet about fondant purses--and I have to say, GR, yours holds up with the best of them.

Good job!

Adorable! I love the LV lettering! smileys/smile.gif Fabulous job.

Thanks for all the nice feedback! I was at the party last night and am just getting

back to the computer. My daughter and her friends were very excited. We put the "purse" out on the table and none of them realized at first that it was a cake. They all loved it. It was time consuming to make, but their response was worth it.

I will be glad to post the links, but it will probably be tomorrow. I realized when looking at my printouts that I had gone to several threads to get all the info I used.

Cheezz, I did use fondant to cover the cake and make the trim and handles. I used edible food markers to draw and color the designs on the cake. I think that was much easier for me than if I had tried to pipe the designs.

Thanks again for your support. I have learned so much from all of you over the years and it has given me the confidence to try new things like this one.
