Just popping in to say hi. Been far to busy of late. I do lurk and keep up with all the goings on and super duper recipes. I am loving Sally BR's blogs and I need my fix of Mar's posts now and then too.

Congrats to Erin, I can so relate to your precious bundle as our newest enjoyed her 1st Christmas at just 7 days old....she weighed in at 9LBs.

Work is keeping me away from being on the computer at home as I am writing far to much. (I am on the 106th Passionate Foodie column as well)

We have also been very busy adding onto the house...actually onto the studio as our youngest has made her home here - her husband is 1st mate on a mega yacht so is away more than on island.

Why did we build on a Kitchen - in this family kitchens feature more than an extra bedroom ("you can sleep in a kitchen - you can't cook in a bedroom!" - I overheard our 13yr old grandie explain to a friend.) She is so right but the baby will use the guest bedroom unless needed, we are contemplating adding on another bedroom if they do not move away.

(Funny feeling going through the empty nest syndrome - two old farts alone in their small retirement home to suddenly being a decent sized family again. I love it. The only problem is work - I started work full time to fill in those empty nest hours and have found it very time consuming which was fine until the family all returned!!)

We are lucky to have the space and the fact they want to live on our property. It wont be long before they will want to buy and live on their own - prolly somewhere else in the world though.

As you can imagine Christmas was very family oriented with the babe in our midst - made old favourite recipes, boringly I didn't try anything new - The turkey was absolutely delish as always as I use Cathy Z's method of placing it on veggies BUT then I pour almost half a bottle of whiskey over it...never fails to please, it is moist and oh, so tasty.

New Year is also going to be downplayed as one daughters' Father-in-law died on boxing day; so we have the grandies while they are in Paris to sort out what needs to be done.

I was late getting our pickled, pressed tongue in and was late in ordering smoked salmon - the mega yachts are suddenly emptying the shelves with their New Year orders and smoked salmon is very popular this year. So not sure what we will do (I have a whole foie gras in the freeze so we are not doomed.)

I wish you all a very Happy New Year - I will be lurking - Happy cooking!

Nice to see you Joanie! Congrats on the new grandchild, and sorry to

hear about your daughter's in-law. You DO sound busy! Busy is good ;o)

OMG , she is just so cute! Congrats on the newest addition to the family, the addition to your

home and 106 Passionate Foodie columns!

((Hugs))
