Chia Seeds (The hemp seed question reminded me)

Has anyone done any baking with or used the chia seed on oatmeal etc? I noticed them a while back at Sunflower in the bulk items and am seeing a few recipes and articles on how good for you they are and that they absorb nine times their weight in liquid and keep you feeling full. Do they have to be ground? What do you do with them?

 
I have been reading up on how to bake cakes without eggs (sob)

and have been seeing a lot about using chia seeds instead of eggs. It sounds interesting but I have yet to try it.

If you google "baking without eggs" you will see what I mean.

I keep thinking of the old tv commercial for chia pets! I had a big ole bull - lol.
