I was working today. They looked good and fresh. Are they for soup? I thought I'd ask before I bought them. Thanks.

Yes, they make excellent stock. Make a big kettle full & freeze it.

I'm envious. I never find cheap chicken parts like that for soup anymore. It used to be common to find these.

Thanks, that's what I thought. The woman in the store said people cook them and serve them over

rice? Messy eating I'd say. The bags must have been at least 4 lb and were 3.44 each. Next trip I'll try one. By the was, this place has wonderful choice strip steaks and rib eyes for 7.99 a pound. I always stock up.

Am I the only one who, after simmering a batch of stock, can be caught nibbling the necks

before discarding them? I've noticed in ethnic restaurants sometimes the necks are included in a chicken stew. The meat is tender if it is cooked slowly.

When dh's aunt from Hungary was here, she would love to find those types of goodies! She made

chicken neck and mushroom soup, (made with a roux of paprika) and also lucked out with duck feet... (made a duck foot / pea soup). Both were yummy!

Just need to know going into it that you may need your hands! If I recall correctly, the broth / stock was made; seasoned / veggies added according. The necks or feet were served / chewed on the side.

I love turkey and duck neck meat, have never seen chicken necks around here.

I've never nibbled duck feet! I feel vindicated. It's really a shame that we don't enjoy

all the parts of an animal.

Oh yes, around here those oysters are gone long before the stock gets made

but every now and then I find one that escaped.

I have to admit, that I did have a lil problem w/ the duck feet ... I was thinking of sandi : )

But the soup was great!!!

Joe - not at all!!! Neck bones of all kinds are the best meat....

I even have DH picking the meat off neck bones now but not just chicken or turkey but pork and beef also.

Do any of you use turkey tails? A southern friend gave me some swearing they make the best stock
