These couldn't be any easier.

1 cup butter

3/4 cup baking cocoa

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1 tsp. vanilla

1.5 cups flour

1 can sweetened condensed milk

1/3 cup flour

1/2 tsp. almond extract

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 cup drained and chopped maraschino cherries

350F oven. Line a a 13X9X2-3 pan with parchment paper

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat, stir in cocoa until smooth. Remove from heat add sugar, vanilla, 3 eggs, 1.5 cups flour, mix well, Spread in prepared pan. Bake 20 minutes.

Whisk together 1 egg, 1/3 cup flour, milk, and almond extract. Pour over baked chocolate layer. Sprinkle evenly with chocolate chips and cherries. Return to oven and bake 20-25 minutes or until set and edges are golden brown. Cool completely in pan on rack. Refrigerate until cold. Cut into bars. Cover and store bars in refrigerator.

For something different, I could a strip off and then cut the strip into triangle shapes instead of rectangles.

Made them today - delicious!

I did use dark cocoa in the base (that's all I keep in the house) and I drizzled some chocolate on the cut pieces I'm serving tonight when I host bookclub.

Thank you!
