Chocolate Lush: Don't think I've posted this before. My mom used to make it for a east dessert

and we used to beg her to make it. Rich chocolatey and it makes its own sauce.

Chocolate Lush

This recipe is quick and easy. A dark chocolate nrownie like cake that makes its own hot fudge sauce.

Sift together:

1 cup flour

2 tsp. baking powder

½ tsp. salt

¾ cup sugar

2 tbsp. baking cocoa

Set aside

Combine 2 tbsp. melted shortening

½ cup milk

1 tsp vanilla

½ cup chopped nuts

Add to dry ingredients and mix until blended.

Spread in 8x8 inch square greased baking pan.

Combine:

¾ cup packed light brown sugar

4 tbsp. baking cocoa

1 ¾ cup hot water

Mix together until well combined

Pour over batter.

Bake at 350° for 45 min.

Cut a square of cake and place on plate upside down. Spoon hot fudge sauce over and garnish with whipped cream.

I also know it as Pudding Cake, wonderful with ice cream. I wonder why they aren't as popular now?

Used to make a lemon one, custard on bottom cake on top. Easy too.

In winter we make an apple-caramel one. Also the chocolate version, but not as much.
