Chocolate Glazed Toffee Bars

Lightly grease a 8 x 8 baking pan

Whisk together:

2/3 cup flour

1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

Sprinkle over flour mixture:

1/4 cup (2 oz) unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small pieces.

With pastry blender cut the butter into the flour mixture. Sprinkle with 2 teaspoons milk. Lightly stir to mix until it begins to hold together. (Can be done in a food processor).

Press into pan refrigerate for 15 minutes. Then bake at 350 for l0 minutes. Cool slightly.

Toast 1 1/2 cups (6 oz) pecans (I prefer almonds)

Set aside.

In a saucepan:

1/3 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon milk

1/8 teaspoon salt.

Stir frequently, bring to a boil - for 3 minutes. Remove from heat.Stir in toasted nuts.

Add:

1 teaspoon vanilla.

Spread over crust mixture. Bake 17 - 20 minutes at 350.

Transfer pan to wire rack. Sprinkle top with

1/4 cup semisweet chocolate morsels. Let stand several minutes then smooth across the surface.

Garnish with additional nuts (2 tablespoons)

Cut into bars when slightly soft. These bars are much better once they have chilled in the fridge for awhile.

the carmel layer, on the stove does.

Again it is a simple bar - but a nice mixture of chocolate, toffee and nuts.
