Philly, I'm very surprised that they're on the same par. I always thought that Acme was a cut above Pathmark.

Down here in Florida, I thought that Publix was on the same par as Acme. Go figure.

I like Walmart for Al Fresco chicken sausages and their steaks are much better than they used to be. Other than that, I don't buy meat or poultry there, but a lot of other items that are much cheaper than the better supermarkets. I also like Walmart's produce.

Sad news for me. My favorite supermarket down here, Sweetbay, has been bought-out by Winn Dixie and my local store closed March 29th but will reopen soon as Winn Dixie. Winn Dixie is just "okay" in my book. Good news is that they carry Philly based Dietz & Watson deli products. I love their Cuban roast pork, buffalo chicken, turkey, and roast beef much better than Boar's Head that they sell at Publix.

I'm lucky to have Fresh Market right up the street from me and I can find things like Japanese mirin that I bought the other night and I LOVE their mushroom and asiago chicken sausage that I bought tonight.

Do you agree with the Consumer Reports' results?

I love love love wegmans.

Although several other supermarkets (Giant, Safeway, and Shoppers Food Warehouse) are closer, I pass these up every week to go to wegmans. When we have family visiting from out of town, this is one of their requests for things to do. Their produce and meats are excellent, and their prices are lower. I also like trader joes for some things.

Ha! the only ones we have up here are Walmart and Costco. we have Safeway and Fred Meyer(Kroger)

and I like shopping those for weekly needs. I have a Super Walmart a few blocks from my house. handy, but not my favorite for groceries.

Publix probably places so high on the list because they monopolize

SE Florida. Seriously, they are on just about every corner. I used to love Albertson's but they closed their stores years ago so I really don't have a choice. We got a Whole Foods a few years ago but it's not really close and I find most things a little to expensive and we have a Fresh Market but it's even farther away. But I like it and go there for things that are hard to find at Publix. I love to get a cup of whatever coffee they have for the day. Fun to taste different flavors. And Walmart is everywhere isn't it? I hate the place but John uses it to buy our prescriptions so if I need 1 or 2 things to pick up I will get it there. I pine over wanting a Wegman's after John was working on a job in Virginia for a couple of weeks and that's all he talked every. single. day. when he called. And then after he got home and he still does to this day! I really want to see this place!

Wegmans

Wegman's is a wonderful gro. store. There is one in Geneseo, NY very close to my bro. & SIL's home. They do their weekly shopping there. Whenever my sister and I go up it's the first place we go. Of course next are the wineries.
The only store anywhere near me is ACME( not impressed at all) and , a couple hrs drive away , is Trader Joe's, which I love.

Shortly I'll have 2 Publix, Trader Joe's, Fresh Market & my local health food market all within

1-1/2 miles of my house. I'm so excited!!!!

Publix and Fresh Market are already in place. The 2nd Publix is being built, as is Trader Joe's.

LOVE Publix!

I think it's one of the better supermarkets I have seen in the USA, clean, bright, good assortment, etc etc...

I actually walked in to a Sweetbay by Fort Myers airport last month and was sorely disappointed, it looked like such a "has-been" MIL then told me about the buy-out and it became clear.

I do like the Winn Dixie on Pine Island, but Publix much better.

I think ACME can be superior to Pathmark depending on location, for example, the new one in Avalon is great, but Cape May Court House, not so much...

I really can't stand Trader Joe's, have never had anything I liked and I really don't like their uppity-ness (is that a word?) Whole Foods is getting there for me as well, glad they were not included in the list.
