Cooking disaster with cube steak.

I bought cube steak for the first time in years, and decided to make the sandwich Ree Drummond said is her husbands favorite. It called for seasoned salt to be sprinkled on the cube steak, which I did. Big mistake, it is so salty that is ruined my dish. I should have used my standby coarse sea salt and added cayenne. I cooked the dish, even tried adding water to make a bit of a gravy to cut the salt. We ate it but I have a lot of meat left over. I hate throwing it out, so what can I do with well browned, too salty, and a bit chewy cube steak strips?

Run it through an old-fashioned meat grinder or food processor until ground coarse. Mix with...

...mayo, chopped onion, celery, bell pepper. Add minced jalapeno and some cilantro and you can eat it as a salad, on sandwiches, crackers, celery sticks, etc.

Chop it up and add it to your next soup? And along the lines of what Michael suggested

you could chop it up, add some BBQ sauce, chopped onions, and celery and make sloppy joes.

Bummer about the steak; but very clever ideas! I like how you made a challenge out of it.... : )

Gosh, I've made that sandwich several times and I haven't had

that. Maybe you went a bit too heavy on the seasoned salt? It's a good sandwich so hope you try it again.

One approach I've taken

is to saute some strips of colorful bell pepper with sliced onion and a little garlic, then add back the cooked steak either cut into wide strips or steaks left whole, some broth, touch of wine if desired, and some of the gravy from the cooked beef, some herbs like sprigs of thyme, oregano, rosemary, then braise by gently simmering, covered, until the meat is quite tender. Season to taste, sprinkle with chopped parsley, and serve over rice, mashed potatoes, noodles, quinoa, or omit the starch and serve just veggies on the side.

Yes, I know I went heavy on the salt. I tried suggestions up above and ground up the meat

to resemble hamburger. Added it to sauteed onion, garlic, red and orange bell peppers, celery, and Ortega chili peppers. Threw in tomato sauce, dried oregano, chili powder, a little BBQ sauce, fresh lime juice, a good amount of water and a big squirt of tomato paste. It is cooking down now and getting thicker. This will become Sloppy Joes. It tastes very good, and the salty taste has diminished a lot. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

Usually I sprinkle added flavorings on my hand first. This time I just sprinkled away on the meat.
