Cooking Pan recommendations

My sister is getting married in Oct and is registering for pots and pans.

What brands of stainless do you recommend / not recommend?

Or if not stainless what do you recommend?

(and maybe I can put them on my xmas list LOL)

Thanks!

Melissa

Not exactly in your criteria, but I DO NOT recommend Bialetti non-stick "Aeternum"

I picked mine up in Bed, Bath & Beyond. It works amazingly well as a non-stick pan. Eggs literally slide out.

However, I bought it the day after Larry had his eye surgery (May 16) and it is already scratched. I hand-wash and use a silicon spatula, so unless a poltergist is sneaking in at night-time to sharpen its claws or Larry's sautéing 2" roofing nails during the day, I don't know what's the deal.

Just don't buy it.

Melissa I have a precious couple of All Clad and they are to die for-IMHO...

They cook with such good heat distribution that everything cooks evenly, I find them very easy to clean, never really had to scour them. They go from cooktop to oven too. I have other less expensive pans and ones with just the bottom of the pan layered (disk) for even heating-everything burns on the sides when I use it. I would LOVE to have a cabinet full of All Clad but they are quite pricey.....

Ditto. Slab on the bottem = burnt food on the sides. What Barbars says about All Clad. Ditto.

That should read "BarbarA". Sorry.

I would rather have a couple pieces of All Clad than an entire set of other stuff.

If she/they are cooks, they'll understand too.

I'll fourth that recomendation. For certain things, it simply can't be beat for durability and

consistent cooking. If you buy any, don't get sucked into buying a "set". You end up paying for pieces you don't want or need. I sold the stuff for years and strongly recommend you get it by the piece. Good luck.

I'll fourth it. I have also had the pleasure of cooking with Viking cookware, which may be even

better with more layers, but it is so expensive I could never afford it for my own kitchen.

Dude, I concede you beat me by 39 minutes. If you promise to go back on your meds, I promise

never to take cuts again.

So what degree is my recommendation for All Clad?? Go to Pottery Barn Wms Sonoma Outlet for

All Clad pans. Up to 40 percent off, and first quality. Not a huge selection, but sometimes they even have whole sets at great discounts. I love my All-Clad pans! (and I don't work for them...)

Pat, I think you're sixth but let's not set Steve off again. It takes days for those meds to work.

Nice to see you back!!

So many voices in my head, so little time. "The button hook! The button hook!" Now taking meds.

Phew, that was close. Thought I was Sally Fields there for a second. Brrrrrr.

We'll know the medicine is working when you spout "You like me! You really like me!"

Thanks! I was pretty sure All Clad was at the top of the list..

it is on mine. So think she is going to pick out the 3 - 4 main ones she'd like instead of a set. And hope for the best smileys/smile.gif

Now I just need to make my christmas list smileys/smile.gif
