I sure had to laugh at the corn cutter that uses an electric drill.
What a great way to get guys to to cut corn off the cob. As long as a job uses a power tool, the guys love it.
Actually we have a terrific method for removing corn kernels. Every year we have a corn cutting and freezing bee. We pick the corn from the garden and husk it. Then everyone gets one of our homemade gadgets. We use a board, about a foot and a half square, with a rim nailed on it, and a nail sticking point side up in the middle. You just push the cob down over the nail which holds the corn, then cut the kernels off with a knife. The kernels are caught on the board; and when you've done a few ears, you dump the pile into the kettle and grab the next ears. While the cutters work, the rest of us bring the pots of corn to a boil and then pack them in freezer containers. Everyone goes home with a year's supply of corn for their freezer. Next year they bring the containers back, and we start over.
