from Costco and didn't find too much info. I haven't been to Costco or TJ's in, at least, 3 1/2 years.

what are your favorite things to stock up on?

my little list right now is for, olive oil, lamb (if it's new zealand lamb) and cheeses.

is there anything special that I shouldn't pass up? I can't do carbs and definately no

wheat smileys/frown.gif but everything else is fair game.

TIA

Don't know if this will help, but we buy TP, Paper Towels, Tin foil (m)

Plastic wrap and Zip Lock bags. By buying in bulk I do not have to keep replacing weekly. Sirloin steaks, briskit, pork roast (occasionally) Bagged whole chickens(They are packed three in a bag here) so I usually cut up 2 and leave one whole. Chicken breasts and thighs. I repackage in portions for us when I get home, seal in my food saver to put in the freezer. I do not buy everything all at once, just when needed. We are really lucky, as Costco is 5 minutes from where we live. I often buy cookbooks that I want, if available, as they are dicounted 40%. Also regular reading books. I have purchased cookie sheets, and other kitchen items. My DH buys his batteries there. Certain OC drugstore items: Tylenol, vitamins, etc. They do have some really neat frozen stuffs too. Oh, I buy my eggs there: 18 to the box.
Well, I hope this helps some, but take time to really look around, I am sure you will find lot's more. Happy Hunting!!!!!

Bring cash only and leave your cards at home! LOL - we always buy more than we should...

Always top on the list are:
- beef - great steaks, especially the filets, we freeze them singly and defrost as needed when we're not buying from Omaha
- pork loin roast
- salmon - a whole side! we cut up to freeze
- smoked salmon
- fresh produce when in season, my favorites are:
* asparagus
* bell peppers
* mushrooms
* avocados
* berries
- wines and liquors - great deals there!
- zip lock bags, cling wrap, foils
- tp and paper towels!
- cocktail napkins
- coffee filters for filter drip #4
- butter, in 1 lb blocks, we cut it outselves into 1/2 cup cubes
- Goldfish crackers
- pantyhose (the one in SF has a brand I like!)
- books and dvd's - my step dad never buys retail books any more, they usually stock the best sellers at his Costo in Lodi
- all electronics - my mom bought her printer from Costo and a year later it broke, she brought it back and they gave her the next latest newest version as a straight exchange! My dvd/vcr player was $50, and I'm looking at a new laptop, they have Sony Vaio 15" for $749 fully loaded...

and, this is silly, but my ex used to buy jewelry for me at Costco then would have it appraised at the Diamond Mart and it would always come back over double what he paid at Costco. The items were lovely and I never let on that I knew where he purchased them!

happy shopping!

I only allow myself to go once a month...

but when there I get:

chicken (multi pack of boneless breasts sealed in pairs)
pork tenderloin
beef (divide and freeze when I get home)
dino nuggets or chicken nuggets for my little girl
fresh fruit & veg depending on what's available, especially pears, salad greens, lemons - NOT the bananas)
olive oil - extra virgin (Kirkland)
sun-dried tomatoes packed in oil
salt & pepper (in grinders)
cheese (esp. feta, parmesan, chevre, blue)
nuts (almonds - unsalted, and mixed nuts)
Kirkland butter
Land O Lakes heavy cream (super cheap)
flatbread
coffee
juice boxes
tzatziki(with the cheeses)
barilla pasta
peanut butter (depending on brand)
loratadine (allergy pills)
vitamins
toilet paper
paper towels
wine/beer/liquor

I always check out the books - the prices are good if you see something you want, and the ADC maps are a good price as well.

I have heard good things about the salmon here too.

Happy shopping!

Here are my faves ...

Shrimp, deveined, peeled, tail on, raw and cooked

Boxes of tiny multi-colored sweet peppers. Asparagus. Lemons. Kirkland butter. Marcona almonds. #4 coffee filters. Cases of Perrier. Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Books. CDs. Vitamins. Reading glasses. Cases of canned tomatoes. Cheeses of all kinds. Sour cream. Gas!

I could go on and on!

no chocolate? '-)) thanks, you guys are fab! it's been so long I figured I would

overlook a lot of things. I'm down to my last Stretch & Seal and would have forgotten. I used to get coffee and tea there too. I'm going through everyone's fav's and making a list. it's going to be a real challange to not go overboard this trip.

our first "winter" storm started yesterday (still going). heavy rain, high winds, flooding, slides, etc. it woke me up 2:30 am and I lay in bed thinking I needed to make a list of meat prices at Cash & Carry/United Grocer here in town and compare the prices at Costco. the rest of the sleepless hour was from concerns about my mental health '-)))
