Mom's local stores aren't letting us use our own reusable bags. The checkers are now behind large plates of acetate like a vertical salad bar sneeze guard. They put your groceries in plastic bags and hand them down to the end of the conveyer belt.

I'm all for safety but I didn't know what to do with the increasingly large mound of plastic bags as I shop for items we may need in case of complete quarantine.

Found this idea at Food52 (see link). I folded the lengthwise portion of the bag about 5 times. The article says this only works for bags with handles, not green produce bags. I'm not sure why as I had none to test out this restriction.

But it works. Mom asked 5 times what I was doing and why I was doing it and what was I going to do with it when I was done. And then she asked it again 5 minutes later. Oh well. She's 92 but healthy.

Praise Juliette Gordon Low. All those sundowns spent folding the American flag at Girl Scout summer camp while simultaneously swatting mosquitoes has finally come in handy.

We just put bags in one of the bags and then return them to the supermarket bin that

collects them for recycling.

Do not overestimate. Plastic bags became illegal here about a year ago and shortly after, we all

discovered just how much we relied on them. Kitty litter is the best example for me. Hoard them. Your day will come.

I hoard ALL plastic bags for kitty litter disposal. Hard to get out here. Bags not dirty litter. (nt
