Crazy wedding shower weekend

So yesterday after taking way too long for the Swiss buttercream to happen and then doing the cupcakes, I took them and a carload of all kinds of stuff to help my friend pull off a wedding shower. Seriously my car was loaded with China and glassware and lifts and levels and tiered things for plates and on and on. I said I would help them set up, But when I got there around 430 they had just gotten home from the store. And zero I mean zero had been done for this party. So what I thought was gonna be a couple hours of helping turned into all night. We didn't go to bed till 4 AM and got up at 6:30 AM. It was a panic rush and we finished literally 10 minutes max before people walked in the door. Every last bit of food and crouton is from scratch. Ditto throwing together flower arrangements and decor. It was just the three of us my friend, one of her daughters, and me. None of whom are the maid of honor or mom of this bride. WTF! (I am dead tired and my feet are swollen and throbbing.)

Menu:

Good old spinach dip

Roasted cauliflower, feta and orzo salad

Sriracha Caesar salad

Il Buco-style kale salad

Fruit salad

Cucumber sandwiches

Egg salad sandwiches

Six layer, 6 inch strawberry cake with American butter cream

Chocolate cupcakes with Swiss meringue buttercream

Assorted cookies

Chocolate covered almonds

Mimosa bar with mango, pineapple, and orange juices

Frozen berry fruit skewer drink garnishes

Lemon infused water

Here is a snapshot of what we pulled together in less than 24 hours > link to the slideshow.

Wow...just WOW! What a lovely showpiece you created. So I wonder: how well did a 6-layer

cake cut? it looks fabulous with the edible gold!

Oh my!! What a beautiful setting - I just love garden parties. The peonies are a fave

I love your white pedestal fruit dish smileys/smile.gif

Gorgeous! And my word, what a lot of work you took on unexpectedly!

I hope it was appreciated.

Everything looks beautiful and the fact that it was all from scratch must have knocked their socks off.
