There is a caterer here that displays a lot of baked goods this way:

Glass blocks underneath to artfully hold up a slab of dark 3/4" granite (can be almost any kind of stone or fake look-alike) on top. He got the slab free because it was imperfect. Baked goods look FAB on it- for evening he sets out little no-flame votives around the goods- beautiful. Sometimes he puts down Ti leaves or other greens and places baked goods on top. Just plain appealing.

Thanks Cathy!

I have an oblong slab of marble that would work. It used to be a coffee table. I think placing the glass bathroom blocks under it to lift it would look nice. I bought some glass candlesticks and silver trays at the dollar store. I am going to glue those to make cake/bread stands. It should look nice. Now I just need to find a silver tablecloth, which shouldn't be too hard this time of year. Thanks again!
