DawnNYS: Have you been to the fair? Any food recs? Haven't been in 40 years and we're going

Oh it has to be sticked, battered, and deep-fat fried these days ...

to count as "fair food" It's all just perfectly awful. I truly don't get the fried butter on a stick thing. What IS the point?

 
turns my stomach just thinking about it. what is the point indeed. We're doing the fair Wed.

Denali Cream puffs with berries and maybe a gyro for me! once a year fresh cotton candy too---only if they put it on a stick. none of that bagged stuff for me.

I've never had, nor would I ever, but all the pictures and descriptions I've seen it's basically a hollow tube of grease soaked batter on a stick after the butter melts away.

I saw a program on one of the food channels (a while back when I was still struggling to watch them) about "Fair Foods" This is considered one of the "highlights" for devotees. They seem to delight in finding ways to put things on a stick, dipping it in batter, and frying it. They were even battering sticks of frozen cola and frying that.

The populations is bored. Cue the lions for the colosseum.
