Did anyone else in No.CA get the rain we did?

Mt. Shasta so far has 1.9, Redding a little less. Boy, did we have a downpour all night long. It was amazing. I hope this put out some fires!

Yes to here in the East Bay and still drizzling. It's cool too and I'm wanting to make soup or

chili. It's verrry unusual for us to have rain this early in the season (by about a month), but we'll take it. California has been hard hit by drought throughout the state -- we've been on water rationing here in our area since March, so it feels really nice to be getting this precipitation. Will only be a high of 76 today then back into the mid to high 80s starting tomorrow so I'm going to seize the moment to make soup. smileys/smile.gif

Made a big pot of chile beans yesterday, with a new batch from Rancho Gordo

used a handful of peppers from my garden, organic beef, organic Italian sausage, lots of celery, onion, garlic and a can of whole cherry tomatoes from Cento....love cooking with those. They are so good!
Leftovers tonight!

Sounds great, Karen. I made a chicken and veg soup using up a variety of veggies

from the vegetable crisper. Mmmm, mmmm, good. One of my favorite things in the world is making soups, especially creating soups on the fly. Fun and very satisfying. I once had visions of opening a soup restaurant, if you can imagine that.

I love soups too. This week I had a mixture of chicken broth and white wine that I was supposed to

use in a chicken dish to make a sauce. Got lazy at the last minute and decided to skip the sauce. So I dumped it into a pot, added more chicken broth and fresh lemon juice. Threw in orzo, left over chicken breast meat, zucchini and carrot slices, sauteed onion and garlic, poultry seasoning , salt and pepper. It made a very nice lunch for us for two days. One can almost always make a nice soup with pantry items and things from the crisper that needs to be used.

Orzo is such a fun little pasta to play with. I like using it to make pasta risotto, using

the pasta in place of arborio rice.

I'm 600 miles north but still in Canada. I'm always surprised when you get weather, we get weather.

This west coast offers so many similarities. But although we don't get much of a 'winter'...being just a little cooler than San Francisco then....I sure could enjoy So Cal temps instead.

(I was just funnin' with ya)
